🎨 Weekly Creativity Prompt – Differing Perspectives

Prompt: “Pull the Page of Pentacles card from your deck(s). Compare the imagery between the card provided below and the card(s) from your own deck(s). How would you read them differently and why?

Mystic Goddess Sigils Tarot - Page of PentaclesMystic Goddess Sigils Tarot – In the center of this card we see a maze, and what appears to me to be the roots of a plant just starting out. This card speaks of the need to develop roots first before growth can begin. It shows the roots at their start, and encourages them to grow to create a stable foundation before continuing on to navigating the maze that is its obstacle to freedom. This card asks us what preparations do we need to put in place in order to create a stable foundation for where we want to end up? The foundation will always be the first step. It warns that sometimes beginnings take time, and thus patience is needed in order for opportunities to grow into fruition.

Page of Pentacles in the Star Trek Tarot, Serenity Tarot, and Cosmic Seeker Tarot

Star Trek Tarot – This card speaks of a continuous curiosity for new knowledge and an urge to advance one’s skills and abilities. It says that no matter one’s age, that curiosity is what creates spice in life, and growth of one’s skills and abilities keeps one fresh and agile, creating strength that can be built on. It encourages not being discouraged when growth takes time. Opportunities for growth are always present, even at times when we don’t always recognize them. The message here is a reminder to be open to those opportunities and eager to explore them, even when you’re feeling jaded or tired.

Serenity Tarot – The figure in this card reflects the traditional imagery in the Rider Waite tradition of tarot. The coil is cherished and admired, valued and the entire focus of the figure in the center of the card. At her feet, growth flourishes. This card speaks of valuing the themes of the pentacles suit.  Home, health, skills, financial stability.  This card says that when you value these traits and themes, growth will come.  Slow and steady, perhaps, but it will come.

Cosmic Seeker Tarot – I struggle with the princess (page) in this card, as there is stagnancy here rather than growth or slow movement. It is as if she holds the coin in her lap, but her mind is elsewhere.  She’s not even touching it.  To me, the imagery in this card speaks of neglecting these important themes that the coin represents.  Are you ignoring your health and changes that need to be made? Are you choosing to not deal with financial obligations? Are you avoiding doing the things that will create a stable foundation for your goals?  This card asks these questions and encourages looking closely within oneself for the answers.

🎨 Weekly Creativity Prompt – Connecting to Earth’s Gifts

Prompt: “Pull a random card, then spin the wheel to be given an herb to work with. Share with us your card, and tell us what similarities or differences you find between the herb and your card. The info you use can be on any aspects of the herb in question from cooking, growth info, teas, personal experiences with the plant, medical, metaphysical, etc.

[Safety Note:  I have based my writings on teas.  Although all three of the teas that the wheel offered to me are quite safe, if you are pregnant, have any medical conditions, or are on medication, please be sure to research risks, interactions, and side effects before consuming.]

Sucreabeille Perfume's Wildland Tarot - Page of Cups and PeppermintPage of Cups and Peppermint

Peppermint tea is often used to help in easing digestion issues, but it also has a number of other benefits from easing tension headaches and easing menstrual cramps, to improving sleep and concentration.

This is because peppermint acts as a muscle relaxer and a pain reliever. This is done through the menthol in peppermint, which increases blood flow while simultaneously providing a cooling sensation.

Often, the Page of Cups is traditionally interpreted a representation of a receptive “omega” energy, personality, or person in the area of one’s emotions, relationships, creativity, or intuition. This often translates into themes that have to do with emotional growth, second chance relationships, or exploring one’s imagination and creativity.

When combined with peppermint, there is a message here about relaxing into such creative pursuits. It can often be difficult to let go and just enjoy when dipping into our imagination and creative endeavors. We often are held back from experimentation and exploration by a need for everything to be perfect.

This herb with the Page of Cups encourages us to relax our grip on perfectionism and ease up on our expectations when delving into creative endeavors. Let go of expectation and the tensions that come with it, and let yourself be a bit messy.

Sucreabeille Perfume's Wildland Tarot - Ten of Pentacles and ChamomileTen of Pentacles and Chamomile

Chamomile tea is best known for its calming benefits, and is used by many as an anti-anxiety tonic to assist in relaxation and sleep. Chamomile has other benefits that are also worth noting. These include containing anti-inflammatory compounds and antioxidants, and having antispasmodic properties.

These qualities make chamomile an excellent choice for relaxation and putting one at ease during times of discomfort or stress.

The Ten of Pentacles is traditionally a representation of satisfaction and stability in the area of one’s finances, resources, home, health, manifestations, and the physical world. This often translates into themes that have to do with hard earned success, accomplishment, abundance, and stability that has taken time to accomplish and is now established enough to share that stability with those around you.

When combined with chamomile, there is a message here about not stressing the small stuff. It can be hard to turn off that hard push to drive for more and better than what you have now. Everyone needs to retire at some point, though, and turn their focus toward helping future generations or others around them find stability as well. Otherwise, the chaos continues around you and influences your stability even when you’ve reached your own success.

This herb with the Ten of Pentacles encourages us to look take a breath and let the constant drive pushing us forward to ease now and then. Sit back and check in with where you are, instead of always plowing forward toward more. You might be surprised with just how far you’ve come when you take a moment to look at things with a quiet and calm mind instead of the jangle of that inner drive ringing in your ears.

Sucreabeille Perfume's Wildland Tarot - Judgement and Lemon BalmJudgement and Lemon Balm

Lemon balm tea, interestingly enough, holds benefits that are in many ways a combination of the previously covered peppermint and chamomile. Lemon balm is excellent for assisting in relieving indigestion and bloating, has been used to help in easing anxiety and promoting more restful sleep, and also has displayed beneficial neurological effects that improve cognitive function and memory.

These qualities make lemon balm an excellent alternative to chamomile or peppermint, and can be blended with either to combine their effects and benefits. (Although, on a personal note, it’s my opinion that peppermint and lemon balm don’t really taste good together… but that chamomile goes with just about everything.)

The Judgement card is traditionally a representation of looking back on one’s history and reflecting upon if they are happy with all that they have done and become in life, as well as getting in touch with one’s true calling, and themes to do with forgiveness and absolution.

When combined with lemon balm, there is a message here about how when we look at who we have become and where we want to go with that moving forward, that we don’t panic about how much time is passed and how much we might have left. It’s easy to become too focused on the goal and forget that what we really should be training our attention on is the journey, not the end.

This herb combined with the Judgement card encourages us to slow down and enjoy the journey. There’s no rush to get to the end of things. Let things move at their own pace so that when you eventually find yourself at the end of the journey? You can look back on all of your memories and be happy that your time wasn’t wasted, but rather… enjoyed.

🎨 Weekly Creativity Prompt – Different Scenarios

Prompt: “The purpose of this activity is to practice interpreting small spreads by combining card meanings, symbols and intuition. We will all interpret the same cards based on a few different (imaginary) situations. A 3 card spread will be posted together with 2 more specific scenarios. It’s your choice which scenario you’d prefer to use, or if you’d rather do a general reading of these cards as for an imaginary querent.”

Tarot of the Abyss - Page of Pentacles, Five of Pentacles, Wheel of Fortune

Scenario 1 – Kayla is having a hard time getting along with her teacher. She’s a little shy, and the presentations they do in class make her anxious. She wants to know how to just get through the school year.

Look at these presentations less as a trial to get through (Five of Pentacles) and more as a skill to be learned and honed (Page of Pentacles).  Remember that you are not the only one that is nervous about doing their presentations.  Because of that, when it goes badly, others are going to be supportive… and when ti goes well they will celebrate with you (Wheel of Fortune).

Scenario 2 – There’s been some changes in Martin’s life and he’s trying to figure out the best way to tell his mum about them.

Ease into introducing your mother to these changes in your life instead of dropping them in her lap all at once (Page of Pentacles).  If she’s not given enough time to adjust, she won’t take the news well (Five of Pentacles).  Timing is also an important factor, for her reactions will be different depending on not just how you present these changes to her, but also when you do so (Wheel of Fortune).

🎨 Weekly Creativity Prompt – Differing Perspectives

Prompt: “Pull the Queen of Wands card from your deck(s). Compare the imagery between the card provided below and the card(s) from your own deck(s). How would you read them differently and why?

Queen of Wands - Tarot of Mystical MomentsMystical Moments Tarot – She stands tall and holds steady a beacon for others to follow. The moths are drawn to that glowing beacon, inspired by her presence and her holding the sunflower aloft.

This card speaks of those that inspire us, and how that inspiration can draw is in like moths to a flame. It asks us where is inspiration sparking for us right now?  If you aren’t seeing that light to follow, maybe it’s time to start looking.

Queen of Wands - Cthulhu Mythos Tarot, Diabolik Tarot, Lost Hollow Tarot

Cthulhu Mythos Tarot – Surrounded and embraced by tentacles from below, this Queen holds within her an orb of energy that glows at solar plexus level.  This card speaks of being strong in one’s leadership of others.  Sometimes when we inspire others, its important to keep them on track rather than letting them just go off and do their own thing.  This card asks the question… where in your passion projects are you in need of more focus?

Diabolik Tarot – What would you do for her? To be her… or to possess her? The femme fatale has been an inspiration and motivation to many a thief, criminal,  and hero alike. She inspires them to leap forward and dive into the fray, to break the law and do amazing things.  This card speaks of being not just inspired but motivated by someone else.  It warns that you need to remember to make the choice to act based upon your own character, or whoever is motivating you will take those choices out of your hands.

Lost Hollow Tarot – Dark and mysterious, this Queen walks among a field of sunflowers at night. She is a beacon of light in the darkness, the sunflowers behind her speaking of hope and success within the encroaching darkness, if you are willing to brave the dark to follow her lead. This card says that sometimes finding inspiration is not easy or for the weak of heart, but takes courage and an intrepid spirit.

🎨 Weekly Creativity Prompt – Autumn Themes

Prompt: “From your deck of choice, select one card for each of the following themes: 1) A wander in the Autumn woods; 2) Guidance from the Past; 3) The Beginning of the End. Post the cards you chose here, and share with us how you made the connections that you did with the prompts above.

Rings of Fortune Tarot - Four of Wands, The Hierophant, Judgement

A Wander in the Autumn Woods

Four of Wands – Stepping into the woods and among the towering trees is like coming home, the energy of the forest welcoming me in as a celebration bursts to life in my soul.  Energy flows and welcomes me deeper, and with each step I take into the shadowed embrace of earthy greens, the soil under my feet sings its welcome and eagerly reaches to welcome me home.

Guidance from the Past

The Hierophant – When we listen to our ancestors, they teach us lessons about what is important and the value of traditions. In their guidance comes age old skills and methods that have been proven through the tests of time and carried forward to be shared with new generations. Sometimes, the “new ways” of doing things “work just as well”, but yet dilute the power and meaning old traditions keep strong. Guidance from our past keeps those traditions strong, and their power rich and potent.

The Beginning of the End

Judgement – As children, we rarely think about the -kind- of people that we will become. We think about the things we want to do and experience, but not really about if we want to be good, or wise, or generous, or kind.  We don’t think about this until later in life, when we begin looking toward the ends of our lives and realize perhaps we don’t yet “measure up” to our potential.  This is the beginning of the path to the end.  That place where self awareness connects with the kind of person we want to become before we move on.

Fifth Spirit Tarot - Three of Pentacles, The World, Eight of Pentacles

Scenario 1 – Jordan is trying to get over their jealousy of their ex dating someone else. They know it’s irrational but keeps cycling back to their ex and they’re coming to you for guidance and advice.

Sometimes in order to move on from a particularly significant phase in our lives (The World) it takes not just hard work on our parts (Eight of Pentacles), but help from others as well (Three of Pentacles).  Make sure that you are including those around you in your pursuits for freedom from these feelings and the new beginnings you are trying to build in your own life.  Tell them you are struggling and let them help you in creating something new that doesn’t involve a constant focus on your ex.

Scenario 2 – There is a conflict at Joey’s workplace involving his manager and a coworker. Joey wants some guidance on how to navigate this situation.

Both of these people are important to your work, and it would behoove you to insert yourself into the situation (Three of Pentacles) and help them sort things out. Guide them toward turning over a new leaf in their working relationship with each other (The World), and remind them how important working together is in performing at their individual bests at their job (Eight of Pentacles).
