Little Seeds… and Time

#dailycalm with the Calm app - Bertrand Russell quoteToday’s meditation was ten minutes long, and was one of the #DailyCalm sessions from the Calm app. I can’t quite remember what the whole meditation session was about, because I was spending a good deal of it spacing in my own way instead.

That said, I do remember something about always questioning and being open to other’s insights and interests.  It was most likely about keeping an open mind, and I’m sure I’ll end up returning to it to listen to it again at some point as a refresher, since I clearly wasn’t paying attention the first time around.

Cozy Cards for Sad and Anxious Moments and Tarot of the Gnomes Temperance cardToday’s draw is the Temperance card combined with the affirmation “The tiny seed you plant today will bring you joy over time.”

The key part of today’s affirmation is the “over time” part.  That brings the meaning of these cards very much in the realm of “patience is a virtue”.

These cards advise us to plant good things.  Seeds of good things like good thoughts, optimistic moments, little joys, etc.  Plant them and let them flourish into your life a little at a time to brighten your days moving forward.  Little things are better than big… and taking one’s time is always better than pushing too hard and overburdening yourself.

Questions for February 8th, 21st, and 26th

Tarot of the Gnomes - Death, Ace of Cups, Nine of Pentacles, The Sun, JudgementThese desires lie dormant in my heart.

Death and Ace of Cups – You wish to feel better about yourself and the world around you. As hard as you work to change your perspectives, real progress and permanent change seem like they continue to elude you again and again.

I am strong in my vulnerability in this way.

The Sun atop Judgement – During times of vulnerability you always return to center, reconnecting with what you really want out of life, and what you consider to be “successful”.

This ensures that you are on your feet if something unexpected happens.

Nine of Pentacles – You gain stability and better balance through your past successes and experiences. By looking back on those things that you have successfully worked through in the past, and how well you have moved on from them, it helps pave the way to an easier road forward when things go awry.

Daily Self Kindness

This is a catch up post, and I’m not entirely sure what the self kindness was for this day.

Little Glimmers

#DailyCalm with the Calm app - Karen Salmansohn quoteToday’s meditation was ten minutes long, and one of the #DailyCalm sessions from the Calm app. The topic of today’s session was about the little things we do each day that often mean the world to someone else.  Things like letting someone in line behind you with one item skip in front of you when you have a full cart full, or even just smiling at a stranger (not in a creepy way, of course).

The session discussed how these small things can sometimes mean the world to another, when for us there are just a little moment of warmth or kindness that we often don’t even think about.  The session encouraged us to be more conscious of the se things, and to do them more often as a result of being more mindful of them in the day to day of our lives.

Renaissance Tarot's Seven of Coins and the Cozy Comfort Cards for Sad and Anxious MomentsToday’s draw is the Seven of Coins combined with the affirmation “A glimmer is the opposite of a trigger. It makes you feel nice and cozy inside.”

Personal growth is hard, and it’s meant to be. But it’s when we find those things that make us feel good inside that we are best able to counteract the reactions of those things that don’t.

For example, if you have a favorite song that lifts you up and makes you happy, and you’re scared of the dark.  Sometimes, humming or singing that song when you’re confronted with being in the dark can help you through that moment. It balances things out a bit and gives you a light in the darkness.

It doesn’t always work, and sometimes it takes time to find the -right- counter balance for certain fears, triggers, and wounds. But, a part of personal growth is in keeping going… keeping working at it even when it seems like you’ll never get there.  Find those little “glimmers” in life and let them help you through the hard parts.  You’ll get there.

: Do Spread 3
Today’s spread is a bit different than our normal in that we are not drawing random cards, but rather, we are picking out the cards that we think fit best. For each position, pick the card from your deck that you feel fits the question best for you, and then explain why you feel that way.

Renaissance Tarot - Two of Coins, The Tower, The Devil, Temperance, The Hanged ManWhich one card do you feel sums you up best?

Two of Pentacles – I feel like I am constantly struggling with finding balance. Balance between work life and home life, between responsibilities and self-care, between others and myself, etc.  I know that “balance” is a constantly fluctuating thing, and yet I always feel as if I am far too off-kilter and trying to get back to an even keel. I feel like a give a good show of knowing what I’m doing and having everything in hand.  I’d love for that illusion to be reality, and yet I struggle every day to even come minutely close to it.

What one card do you feel represents your strengths?

The Tower – Above all else, I am a survivor.  No matter what happens, no matter what changes take place or what life drops in my lap, I know that I will get through it.  It might -feel- like the end of the world, but I’m flexible enough to adapt and will pick myself up from the ashes and keep going.

Which one card do you feel represents your limitations?

The Devil – I have a tendency toward addiction.  An extreme tendency toward addiction.  If it feels good? I’m hooked. If it feels good and is -remotely- bad for me?  Watch out, here I come.  It’s something to be constantly conscious of, or I fall into one addiction or another and don’t surface until it’s too late and things have begun to self-destruct.

What kind of issues do you feel that you need to work on?

Temperance – If you read the answer above this one, you will know that what I need to work on is moderation.  Honestly, the Devil card and the Temperance card are interchangeable in these positions, as they go hand in hand.  I need more moderation in my life, and I struggle each and every day against those addictive tendencies in order to instill more temperance in my life.

What message do you want to share with the world?

The Hanged Man – Please remember that your experience is not the same as everyone else’s. It’s our history and our experiences that make us unique, but it can also blind us to the struggles of others and make it difficult to see things from another’s perspective outside our own.

Try.

Instead of just reacting to those around you and shouting your own experience and opinions into the void… try and see things from the viewpoints of others. Try to see the world from more than your own personal perspective.

Doing so helps us in being open to others, compassionate human beings, and better people.

The Commingling of Skills

Today’s meditation was skipped.

Jupiter Power Tarot's Three of Pentacles and the Cozy Comfort Cards for Sad and Anxious MomentsToday’s draw is the Three of Pentacles combined with the affirmation “You are good enough.”

A lot of times when asking for help, it’s hard not to feel like we’ve failed because we couldn’t do whatever it is on our own.  I struggle with this feeling a lot, and I know I’m not alone in this.

The thing is?  People aren’t meant to do everything alone and on their own.  It’s when we combine forces that we really shine, as each person brings a different element to the table and when those elements, skills, and expertise are combined? Magic happens.

Asking for help doesn’t mean that you’re not enough. It means you appreciate what other people bring to the table and have to offer.

Question: Why is my top side sparking so hot right now?

Lauren Marx Art Postcard Set and Jupiter Power Tarot - The Magician, The Tower, King of Cups, King of WandsReading Summary: You are feeling less like everything is falling apart [the tangled grass is a color match with The Tower reversed; although the  grasses are tangled, they are not restraining the roseate spoonbill settled upon them] and more interconnected with Gideon than ever [King of Cups;  here again we see a connection between the pattern of movement in the roots of the face, and in the grass, connecting the roots to the foundation that the bird stands upon so that it can feed as needed and get what it needs] which sparks your passions [King of Wands], and allows you to feel empowered [The Magician, combined with that The Magician flower faces forward into the future].

Take Away: This roleplay character you are using at the moment and the current play makes you feel very secure in yourself. In many ways, he’s a lot like you, which allows you to pull out those inner urges that are usually suppressed and share them openly with Gideon at this time.

I took time to unwind and breathe after a very stressful situation earlier in the day.

Sharing Is Caring

Today’s meditation was eleven minutes long, and was the “human being, not human doing” meditation from the FitBit app.

Honey Knight Tarot's Page of Swords and the Cozy Comfort Cards for Sad and Anxious MomentsToday’s draw is the Page of Swords combined with the affirmation “Sharing is caring.”

Learning things together increases the potential to retain what is learned.  Share what you learn with others and let them elevate the experience, and in return you won’t be the only one to experience growth, as they will as well.

I like the imagery of the affirmation card for today combined with the Page of Swords. I like the idea of releasing knowledge so that it floats up into the air and becomes shared, cherished, and something to feel excited about -with- others instead of by yourself.
