Accepting Unpredictability

Today’s meditation was skipped.

Tranquil Tarot - Wheel of FortuneToday’s draw is the Wheel of Fortune card, which is traditionally a representation of unpredictability, chance, luck (both good and bad), cyclical patterns in life and nature, and at times… destiny.

In this imagery, what I see is all the “wild cards” that life can throw at you from inclement weather to ball-and-chain feelings, winding paths where you can’t see around the next bend, and surprise accidents that suddenly change your perspective.

Life throws curve balls at us every single day.  Sometimes, we adapt without even realizing we’re doing it, rolling with the punches without so much as a blink. Other times, those curve balls trigger a fight response and we balk, and that’s when things become unpleasant.

How amazing would it be if we could roll with -all- the punches. If we never balked and struggled under change.  How smooth life would become if we didn’t look at the unpredictable shifts in life as problems and obstacles, but simply another joyful part of the ride.  Could you imagine? That’s what today’s card is about.

Questions for The World – Day 23

Reminder: The Journey – “Work on finding balance between your practical self and your emotions. Don’t allow logic and your harsher inner narratives to dominate the conversation.

Seeker Tarot (Oracle) and Tranquil TarotHow can I use my lessons of this Journey to benefit those around me?

Expand Your Universe atop Open Your Mind – By allowing yourself to see outside your negative inner narrative, you are able to see others (and the world at large) more clearly, and in turn then invite them in to be a part of your world.

What am I manifesting for myself by staying true to this Journey?

An Unfair Judgement Rx and Weave Your Reality – It’s true that what you focus on is what manifests in your life.

So, if you continue to judge yourself unfairly, it is that negative energy that permeates your life and it weaves a negative reality for you. By the same turn, if you lean to intuition and self kindness, you can weave a positive reality for yourself instead. Like any other addiction or habit, pessimism and negativity must be dealt with through dedication and diligence.

Question: The project of the deck shelves has been stalled lately. How can I get back on track?

Art of Pixar Postcard Set and Tranquil TarotReading Summary: You get what you give, so focus on your work and creating the outcome you want to happen, and keep in mind how much lighter you will feel once it’s done.

The postcard at the top speaks of overwhelm, and there is a color correlation between Buzz Lightyear’s suit at the bottom of the postcard, and the greens in the Eight of Pentacles. The speaks of looking at the project as if it is a big huge project, which you are finding overwhelming.

There’s blue throughout all four of the cards on the table, speaking of how everything connects together here, an indication of looking at the big picture. You can look at the big picture, or you can choose to connect to one small thing at a time, as is indicated by the pinks and purple hues hinted at throughout the postcard and on Buzz Lightyear’s helmet that are then reflected in the Justice card.

The yellow in the Fool is then even more sparingly flecked throughout the image above in the postcard. This speaks of picking and choosing smaller tidbits of the larger project, rather than looking at it as a whole, and how much easier and lighter it can feel if you approach the project in this manner.

Take Away: You have forgotten that you need to take things in small bites. Seeing in your mind the goal completed can keep you on track, but don’t then look at that project as a whole needing to be done. Take small steps, one at a time, and soon you’ll get there without realizing how far you’ve come. Use that relief of a goal finished as a carrot on a stick to keep you motivated.

I took someone with me when I went to check on the parking garage after getting reports of car alarms going off down there.  Whoever broke in was apparently already gone (or at least we didn’t find anyone and neither did the cops when we called them in) but a handful of cars had been broken into.

You Get What You Give

Today’s meditation was skipped.

Blissful Dolphin TarotToday’s draw is the Justice card, which is traditionally a representation of cause and effect, balance, the justice system, as well as truth and fairness.

You get what you give.

If you’re not willing to put any energy or time into something, then you’re not going to get anything out of it in return.

This is true whether it’s about your meditation practice, about the work you need to do to get the shelves up, or anything else in life.

Taking some time to rest is one thing, but in order to get anything done, you actually have to put some effort into it.  Just remember, you can’t rest or dawdle forever.

Questions for Judgement- Day 22

Gentle Wisdom from the Faerie Realms Oracle and Blissful Dolphin TarotIn what area should I trust and follow my own judgement?

Integrity and Goals – Continue making decisions concerning your goals based on your moral compass and values. These qualities are more important than reaching an end goal quickly or achieving some thing you’ve had your eye on.

What bias am I guided to revisit?

Guardian and Power – There is no need to push for a connection with your spirit guides, as they are already there and eager to work with you. The obstacle you are feeling is not with them, but within yourself, and is something that will resolve itself over time without the need to plow through it in a rush.

Questions for April 20th thru 22nd

Blissful Dolphin TarotI will discontinue…

Three of Pentacles Rx – …insisting on doing everything alone. The cards have been reminding me for a while now that that I don’t need to do everything alone. Clearly it’s not sinking in very well, but I am trying.

So I may…

The Tower atop The Star – …take tower more moments in my life with more positivity, grace, and hope due to the contribution of others in my life. Their help has the ability to make everything just a bit better.

I will make more time for…

Knight of Cups – …the creative pursuits that make me happy. I spend far too much time doing the crap that doesn’t make me happy out of obligation or responsibility.

Because?

Ten of Pentacles – Doing so will introduce a greater sense of accomplishment and abundance into my life.

I can now…

Four of Wands – …more greatly appreciate my home. After having been away for the last few days, coming home has given me a greater appreciation for hearth and home as a whole.

And this helps?

Judgement – The increased sense of appreciation helps me in easing up on harsh judgments about what I haven’t gotten done around here lately.

Social Exhaustion

Today’s meditation was skipped.

Fable Hedgehog TarotToday’s draw is a double with the Nine of Wands atop the Three of Cups. Traditionally, the Nine of Wands is about resilience and boundaries, while the Three of Cups deals with themes to do with social revelry and celebrations.

If the Three of Cups had shown up on to, the message would have been that burdens are lessened when you let others help. But, what we see here with the Ten of Wands on top is that it can at times feel like “to much”.

This last few days have been extremely social, and today’s cards are a reassurance that it’s okay to feel wrung out at the moment. It doesn’t make the visit any less than, or you any less than either. It just means that it’s time for some alone time and rest.

Questions for The Sun – Day 21

The Pulp TarotWhat good has been set in motion since the start of this Journey?

Queen of Pentacles atop Queen of Wands – You have been able to connect more with your motivation and drive, and are now grounded enough to support this drive and see it through. You have the experience to carry yourself forward and support your drive, and the drive to move forward in the ways that matter to you and will help you feel more stable. You are beginning to be able to combine the two and work with them together.

What other good things can contribute to my best Journey?

Ace of Pentacles and Eight of Cups – Using good judgement to know when new opportunities are going to be something worth pursuing, or if you should just walk away. Including being able to identifying when something is too good to be true.

King of Cups Rx – The fear of losing Gideon. His obsessiveness helps in alleviating this fear, but there is always that niggling worry. That thought that you’ll do something wrong or fuck up in some irreparable way, or that something will happen to him.

What keeps you safe?

Four of Wands – Four walls and a roof over your head. The safety and security of hearth and home creates that sense of safety within you, and gives you safety in turn.

What guides you?

Five of Cups – You are often guided by your pessimistic tendencies and negative inner narrative. You already know this is unhealthy, and how to rectify the problem. It’s important to be aware that it’s happening, though, in order to be reminded that countermeasures are necessary.

Changing the Trajectory

Today’s meditation was skipped (again).

The Curious Travels TarotToday’s draw is the Chariot card, which is traditionally a representation of decisive action, control, direction, willpower, and determination that breeds success.

Yesterday I did a reading about how the apartment search is going and the news there was pretty dismal. It has been a bit of a frustrating trip, and the cards lit a fire under my ass and determination in my soul to turn things around.

This morning, I got up early and when the property management places opened, I started organizing the girls to make calls while I did searches on the internet.  I made them call every single lead or possibility, no matter how unlikely. I pushed them to be pushy and determined with me, driving them forward to speak to a good 28 different property management companies, while at the same time I looked up each company on the internet so that they would have something to talk to these companies about when they answered. Once that was exhausted, I then started them on calling on owner ran listings and speaking to owners about different properties and leaving messages with others.

And… I think we might have found a place. We went out and looked at it and met the owner, and we are just waiting for him to email the background check (he said tomorrow, so we’ll call tomorrow evening if he hasn’t done it).

Today’s card is a reminder that with will and determination, you can change your fate and shift your trajectory into a different path. Sometimes, it  just takes having a clear direction and the determination to drive forward and really work at it.

Questions for The Moon – Day 20

Oracle of Light & Dreams and The Curious Travels TarotWhere should I listen to my feelings or better honor them?

Seaglass and Daydreaming – Pay attention to your body and mind’s need for rest. Don’t let past judgements from others influence your behavior when it comes to taking the rest and recovery you need. It isn’t the end of the world if you take a nap now and then, nor going to bring down the “whole house of cards” if you take a break now and then.

Where are my feelings actually not helpful right now?

Peony and Moonflight – That rest and ambition can’t mix, as if it’s an either/or situation instead of something that can be balanced to have both. This is bred out of the fears briefly mentioned above, and the insistence of others in my life while I was growing up that things could only be accomplished and done well if you put your all into the endeavor with single focus and determination (and sometimes not even then).

Philosophical Question
: What existed before our universe was created?

The Curious Travels TarotReading Summary: There was an element of give and take that lead in time to perfect balance (Six of Pentacles), which then in turn bred boredom and dissatisfaction (Five of Cups). From this boredom grew a need to explore and experiment (The Travelers), which led to the creation of our universe.

Take Away: These cards indicate that before our universe was a give and take of energy seeking balance, and eventually finding it.
Then sentience. Perhaps it didn’t start out as that, but it eventually came to be sentience in one form or another.
Balance and sentience do not mix well, as there is boredom there, and thus chaos and creation stepped in to upset the balance and create the universe… and us.

Again, even with all that was going on today, I managed a nap.  A much needed nap.

The Learning Curve

Today’s meditation was skipped.

Lunalapin TarotToday’s draw is the Page of Swords, which is traditionally a representation of a receptive omega energy, personality, or person in the area of one’s thoughts, intellect, education, ambitions, or communication.

Lots to do today when it comes to movement and pursuit, and yet we’re all new at this and fumbling around a bit in the dark. Just as the bunny in the card holds their sword like a novice, so too did we try to put energy into our ambitions with the skill of a novice new at the effort.

Sometimes we have to deal with a sharp learning curve.  If the bunny drops the sword, they might get hurt so they must learn quickly how to hold the sword and what to do with it.  So too are we learning at a rapid pace, trying out new ideas in the effort to find what we need.

No luck today on the apartment hunt, although we did go look at houses that have sold in the area lately in order to get an idea of the market place and what she can expect when she’s ready to lay out the money for a place. Tomorrow, I’ve decided that instead of trying to call property management places (that apparently don’t answer their phones or return messages) we’re going to go visit a couple of offices in person and see if we can get somewhere that way.

Question for The Star – Day 19

Lunalapin Tarot, Flower Power Ancient Healing Remedy Cards, Wildwood Tarot (Trimmed Naked)What hopes or dreams am I gently invited to embrace?

Comfrey and The Loom – Peace and a sense of stability year round, instead of only through the calmer half of the year. So many years in a row, the holiday rush starts in the 2nd week of November then stretches until a couple days before Christmas, and I barely get a breather to catch my breath before the chemical shift of adrenaline and anxiety begins sliding me into a MDE that takes up the first 3 or 4 months of the year.

Finding more peace and a greater sense of stability would allow me to weather the holiday rush more easily and transition out of it more smoothly, possibly lessening the intensity of the MDE or bypassing it entirely as a result.

In what area am I guided to believe in myself?

Bindweed and The Bear – Trust yourself to let loose without it being damaging to others. Remember that sometimes people need to hear hard truths, and laying those truths out in the open can untangle knots within yourself that rea created when you try to hold back.

Lunalapin TarotI know I am capable of…

Knight of Wands atop Knight of Swords – …confidently taking swift and motivated action toward my aspirations and goals. Regardless of the fact that I often feel like I’m weighed down by lack of direction, I am capable of moving forward and doing what needs done.

Because?

Two of Pentacles and The World – I am aware of the balance needed between these desires and the path I walk in becoming the man I want to be. Only when those desires are aligned with this greater path will I be able to act with confidence and motivated alacrity.

Heart First

Today’s meditation was skipped.

Mara Lunne TarotToday’s draw is the Magician, which is traditionally a representation of capability, potential, resourcefulness, action, and manifestation.

The heart in the imagery of this card feels like it softens the original context of the magician, turning cold ambition into heartfelt drive and incorporating into the card a desire to do good for oneself and others.

The message in today’s card is to make sure that you are acting with your heart as you go about your day today. The brain isn’t enough. Logic and intuition are formidable tools, but they aren’t enough.  Make sure you are also consulting your heart.

Fleurot TarotWhat weighs you down?

Peony atop Hydrangea – The feeling that I am undeserving of abundance or self care in my life. This is an issue that I have struggled with throughout my life, although very much at the forefront over the past few years as I try to break old habits and be kinder to myself.

What lifts you up?

Fir and Nasturtium – Security and stability. When I feel I have a stable foundation, whether financially or intellectually, I then feel free to stretch and breathe. It gives me the confidence to know that as I explore my emotions and stretch into them, I have solid footing beneath my feet so that I won’t easily take a painful tumble.

Questions for April 17th and 18th

Mara Lunne TarotI see progress here…

Three of Cups – Finding joy in spending time with others. I am… very much the Hermit in many ways, and I struggle to be social more often than not. It takes me a long time to feel comfortable “loosening up” around others, and even then I’m more likely to prefer my own company the majority of the time.

And yet, I have been improving on this over the past few years by finding ways to appreciate others in my life more and tapping into gratitude for their presence in my life and what their presence contributes to my life and my experiences.

Because?

Nine of Swords – I’m not worrying as much about things that don’t matter or don’t exist. Like many people, I am often guilty of a lot of a lot of Unhealthy Thinking Styles, and this is especially true when it comes to public perceptions directed my way.  I am learning to use these Unhealthy Thinking Styles less, and trust more.

I have the strength to…

The Hermit – Know when alone time is healthy or unhealthy, and make the choice to use my alone time in more healthy ways.

Now l?

Nine of Pentacles – With this knowledge and ability, I have the opportunity to make healthier choices for myself that will assist me in my climb out of the pit instead of lingering in the shadows just past the pit’s ledge and never quite making it all the way free of the MDE’s grip.
