Gideon’s Challenge – Daffodil

The First Daffodil

Daffodil

The first bloom
to open
and tilt its face
to the sun
smiles wide
as it
greets the world
with an
announcement
of spring to come
and each passerby
smiles back
relieved
to see the bloom
that announces
springs arrival
in vibrant hues

Small Mysteries Tarot - Nine of Cups

Today’s draw is the Nine of Cups, which is traditionally a representation of themes that have to do with contentment, accomplishment, and satisfaction in the area of one’s emotions, relationships, creativity, and intuition.

I love spending time in the forest. Especially when I can get far enough out that there are no other people and I can really relax and enjoy myself.

I have a tendency to walk off-trail and explore where others have not tread. (Yes, I’m skilled with a compass and bring one with me.) This isn’t because I want to find something that they haven’t, but rather because it feels like these places are places where I connect more deeply with nature and the trees and the roots within the soil.

These are my happy places. Wet and green, quiet, and yet loud with the sounds of nature, and only the sounds of nature.

Liminal spaces (The In-Between Spaces of the world) make a lot of people uncomfortable. I get that in a way, but for me, these places in nature that are liminal spaces draw me in and welcome me home. I visit them to wallow in that feeling, soaking it in so that it is part of my breath and blood and every cell of my being.

Today’s Nine of Cups card and the “in-between” prompt ask us… where is it that you find pleasure and calm and that wonderful sense of peace and home? Where is it that you feel happy and like to wallow? And why aren’t you visiting that place more often?

@silkandsonder’s Journal Prompts to Feel Like Yourself Again
Prompt No.1

Intuitive Tarot Reading with the Nicoletta Ciccoli Tarot

When was the last time I felt fully like me?

Cuddle and Discipline – The last time that you felt fully “like you” was when your vulnerability was hidden behind a tough exterior, and you punished yourself for that vulnerability existing at all.

What was different then?

Flora and Sleepwalk – Your eyes were closed to how damaging this behavior would become, and how lonely being so solitary can be. It was an unhealthy cycle that needed to stop.

Take Away: These cards bring up that perhaps it’s time to look at redefining what feeling “like me” actually means. Especially considering the last time you truly felt “fully like me” was during a time when you were abusing yourself and not allowing your vulnerabilities the space needed to breathe.

Other elements included in this reading:
Pressed Pansy Flower for Hearing the Heart More Clearly
Rose Quartz for Gentle Kindness to Self and Others
Moss Agate for Attracting Opportunities for Growth
Selenite for Purification and drawing in Positive Energy

: How can I speak from a place of wisdom rather than reaction?

Tarot Reading with the Small Mysteries Tarot and The Veiled Path Oracle

Reading Summary: Slow down (Eight of Matches and the fact they’re not all facing the same direction) and take time to unwrap what’s really going on (Cloak) instead of assuming the worst (Nine of Knives).

Take Away: When you act quickly, you jump the gun and don’t allow enough time to really see what’s going on. Wisdom takes time and thought, consideration and pause. Not immediacy and snap judgements.

In order to solve the issues at hand (no matter what those issues are) and speak from a place of wisdom instead of just reaction, you need to slow down. Take the time to pick things apart and consider all the angles invoved, rather than letting your emotions and fears prompt you into leaping immediately into the fray.

Other elements included in this reading:
Black Spruce Needles to Boost Self-Confidence and Positive Thinking
Dried Rosebuds for Potential and Beauty Waiting to Unfold
Dried Purple Heather Flowers for Independence and Luck
Turtle Figurine for encouraging Slow and Steady Progress
Selenite for Purification and drawing in Positive Energy

Mystic Meows Tarot - Ace of Pentacles

Today’s draw is the Ace of Pentacles, which is traditionally a representation of the seed of new beginnings and new opportunities in the areas of one’s finances, resources, health, labors, manifestations, and the physical world.

Take care that you don’t add too many new things on your plate at once. Just because the opportunities are out there and ready, doesn’t mean that you have enough space on your plate to include them all.

I have a creative streak a mile wide and I love learning new skills. If I had the finances to do it? There is a damn good chance I would be taking courses on different arts, crafts, and techniques each semester. Not with a degree in mind… but just to learn new skills.

And chances are? I’d have so many projects on the go that I’d never finish anything at all. Just continue piling on more and more.

That’s where boundaries come in… and that’s what the message in today’s Ace of Pentacles and “Boundaries” prompt comes in as well. We all have a myriad of interests and ideas on what we want to do with our time, our energy, and our lives. We all have to set boundaries on how much we take on, too. Otherwise? We would never get anything done, instead just flitting from thing to thing like a butterfly flitting from flower to flower. The message for today is a reminder that these boundaries are important. Make sure what you want to take on is something you -can- take on right now before you commit. If it’s not? Set it aside for a better time when you can give it the attention it’s going to need.

Philosophical Question for March 4th
: Is generosity an inherent virtue, or is it learned behavior?

Tarot Reading with the Fat Cat Tarot and Cat in a Box Postcard Set

Reading Summary: There is a very clear color connection between the Six of Pentacles, the High Priestess card, and the Anchor card. This connects these three together while leaving the King of Pentacles as an outlier, speaking of a need to connect with your inner knowing and your compassion, rather than allowing yourself to always focus on stability and stagnancy.

The deep blue that connects the High Priestess card to the Anchor card, combined with the circular design of the universe in the Anchor card and the moon behind the High Priestess connect this answer not just to what’s within ourselves, but the unknown that is beyond us.

Take Away: Generosity is being guided to create balance by unseen forces… but never forced.

The concept of being guided but not forced, and the inherent need the universe has for trying to create balance, are therefore the birthplace of generosity.

This makes generosity both an inherent virtue, and learned behavior, depending on the situation and the individual. This is because it’s not really about learning or about “being generous”, it’s about balance and the inherent need for balance in the world around us as well as the universe at large.

Other elements included in this reading:
Foraged Oak Branch with Moss and Lichen for Perseverance
Conch Shell Knot for Concentration, Clarity, and Determination
Citrine for Energy Lift (easing the weight of heavy energies)
Rose Quartz for Gentle Kindness to Self and Others
Selenite for Purification and drawing in Positive Energy

Venus conjunct Saturn Prompt for March 8th
: What relationship or commitment needs maturity?

Tarot Reading with the Mystic Meows Tarot

Reading Summary: You see change (Wheel of Fortune) as something to be avoided and braced for (Three of Swords), when in actuality it is an effort of the universe to find balance (Six of Pentacles). The maturity you need is to take things slow and allow them to develop instead of trying to control everything every step of the way (Knight of Pentacles).

Take Away: I was actually expecting these cards to come up with an actual relationship with a person. That’s clearly not the case, for what we see here is me being called out for being a control freak and trying force things to fit into the molds I want them to fit into instead of allowing them to find a natural balance.

I agree. This stubbornness is childish, and based in childhood fears. Especially knowing that changes are often not just something that is needed, but something that improves lives and situations as a whole.

These cards are a reminder that I need to stop fighting so hard for control, and allow the universe to find the balance it seeks.

Other elements included in this reading:
Dried Red Maple Leaf for Adaptability and Connection
Gneiss Stone for Patience in Moments of Discomfort
Selenite for Purification and drawing in Positive Energy

❤️ Self Care Saturday (On a Sunday)

These Saturday readings are (not usually) bearing in on any one thing or event in my life, as the question used is asking for a more general outlook. This is a self care exercise, and is not meant as a predictive reading… although that, too, happens on occasion.

The question is… What do I need to focus for self-care through the week ahead?

Self Care Saturday Tarot Reading with the Adorable Cat Tarot and Pooh's Adventures Lenormand

EarthTwo of Pentacles – You just got called out for your cards in another reading done today for always having to be in control of every little thing. Remember that sometimes control isn’t the answer, but instead of going with the flow is the best way to keep your balance.

AirSeven of Wands – Keep your priorities, values, and principles in focus this week. You may feel like they’re coming under attack, and maybe they are. Just remember that standing strong with your values needs to be your main focus this week. Even if it feels like the entire world is against you.

WaterKnight of Cups – Allow yourself to have those things that you want and enjoy. Too often you withhold from yourself those things that you most enjoy. Consider indulging this week, and it will be a nurturing balm for your emotions.

FireThe Chariot – Do it, and do it now. Procrastination is not your friend in the week ahead. If things need to be done, make sure they’re getting done. In doing this you exerting control over the direction things go in moving forward. This is where you need to focus your need for control this week.

WaningLetter and Bouquet – That good news that’s incoming this week is not the good news that it appears to be at first glance. Make sure that you read the fine print instead of just accepting it openly as the gift it’s being presented as.

WaxingDog and Coffin – Remember that not all acquaintances can be a loyal friends. It’s okay to let people go when they break your trust or it feels like they are not loyal to you in a way that you need. Embrace releasing these people back to the universe to find their “better fit”.

Take Away – This week is all about redirecting your need for control over everything to a specific task. That task being not allowing your procrastination to take the lead and not fighting against the currents carrying you forward. Focus on what’s right for you, whether that’s activities or choices or the people you allow to take up your time and share space in your life. Take care to spot the fake flowers and weed them out instead of allowing them to crowd out new growth.
