Self Care Saturday (on Sunday)

As I’ve mentioned before, these readings are (not usually) bearing in on any one thing or event in my life, as the question used is asking for a more general outlook. This is a self care exercise, and are not meant as a predictive reading.

The question is… What do I need to focus for self-care through the week ahead?

SCS

EarthTen of Wands and Unknown – You are over burdened right now with work. Set everything else aside and pay attention to what needs done to keep up on orders and get through the holiday rush.

AirThree of Pentacles and Muse of Poetry – Make sure you are opening up and letting those around you know how you are feeling and when you need their help. You’re going to feel overwhelmed, which is natural at this time of year, make sure though that you don’t bottle that up. Instead, share it and lighten that burden by “spreading the wealth” of responsibilities and work to be done.

WaterFive of Wands and Resonance – It is not surprising that things are going to feel dissonant and discordant at the moment. With so much to do and so little time, emotions that you normally might handle easily are going to be difficult to work with while overburdened by the holiday rush.

FireTen of Swords, Ultima Materia, Muse of Music – There is no time for new ideas right now, or even creative thinking. Be the boss, take charge of what needs to be done, and find a rhythm that will get you through what is the hardest time of the year for you.

WaningWeaving Flowers – Creativity and inspiration is in a decline at the moment. This card is an echo of the reading in the Fire position. Now is the time to put your nose to the grindstone, and not allow your head and heart free reign to distract you.

WaxingMiss Sunshine – Set aside fears and uncertainty, and concentrate on focusing on your intentions and on the positive in order to keep in a place of mental clarity that will allow you to move forward.

Moral of the Story – The “holy shit” of the holiday rush is now here and it’s time to set aside distractions and focus. I’m still going to be trying to do my daily card pulls/readings, but don’t be surprised if I miss a few this month while things are hot and heavy with orders.

EarthEight of Fire (Ginger), Childhood, Phenomenon – There is a lot going on right now and things are moving fast. Take time to incorporate enjoyment into all of that fiery energy. You can stay on track and still have fun. Be sure to leave a little space for the unexpected instead of allowing trepidation to hold you back, as not everything that approaches from a direction of clouded vision and uncertainty is a bad thing.

AirAwakening (Judgement) and Release – Now is a good time to look at your life and your purpose and take the time to think about what you want from life and what direction you want your path to take. Evaluate what is important to you and let go of those things that are not serving your these values and goals.

WaterEight of Air (Licorice), Four of Fire (Elder), Wisdom – Speaking your truth and communicating your feelings and needs will allow others to assist you in getting what you need. When you keep these things in, those feelings and needs become unruly and difficult to deal with, better to communicate them with those that can provide help, support, and even guidance.

FireEight of Water (Valerian), Memory, Erosion – So much of this time of year for me is about chaos and bustle. This week away needs to be the opposite of that. Live in the now for the time away from home. Take time to relax and recuperate. Make sure to keep past history and all that entails resting in the past where it belongs, as bringing the past into the present at this time will be counterproductive.

WaningUnderworld – That time of connection to the dead, and especially the rising of my father within the energy that surrounded the end of October, is finally beginning to let go and settle back to the muddy bottom of the bog.

WaxingShark – Forward movement is the emerging energy of the week ahead. Keep your eyes forward and off of the past. Don’t worry about the judgements of others that may be cast upon you. Let them roll off your back like the flow of water over a shark’s skin. Take care to remain impartial.

Moral of the Story – By taking the time I need to rest and regroup, and keeping my eyes forward on the path ahead, I will benefit from the week away and come back stronger with laser focus and purpose.

EarthSeven of Cups and Abracadabra – I am the creator of my own destiny. When I seek to look into the future and see the opportunities available to me, tap into my inner knowledge and take the path that feels right, rather than following my intellect.

AirFour of Cups and Under My Umbrella – In the week ahead, I need to focus on allowing myself time to process my feelings rather than using my intellect to push them aside. Instead, foster my personal growth by being kind to that vibrant inner emotional self that I’m usually so eager to shove in a box and ignore.

WaterKing of Cups and The Gift – Don’t forget that that emotional inner self is a gift. Be curious about it instead of disregarding it as useless and shoving it away. By allowing myself a chance to visit with this side, it will allow growth and development that will allow me to better integrate that part of myself into my life and find balance with that aspect included.

FireStrength and Transformation – This is the only position in the spread that did not come up with cups, which feels it is saying that this message is unrelated to what is going on in the other three positions. At the same time, it does relate in, in a way. As with the topic of these cards resting in the fire position, there will always be an emotional response involved. This is indicated in the fact that the card that came up is a majors card, rather than a card from the minors.

With what’s been going on with my online shop at the moment, these cards are a message to remind me that I am strong, and that change happens. Even when change looks bad, it can be good in the end.

WaningVision and The Maze – I need to focus on seeing things in a light of unity rather than allowing the drop and the solitude that comes with the rush sucking me into feeling as if I am all alone and without support. This is a call for a change of perception… and stepping away from that darker place into a lighter, softer viewpoint.

WaxingThe Moon and Community – Step forward into my more social nature and allow others to help me. The holiday rush is a time of great struggle for me, and I need to get in touch with my inner self and make sure I’m paying attention to when I feel I am floundering and need help… then GET that help from others rather than biting the bullet and trudging onward on my own.

EarthThe Moon, Lady’s Mantle, Asian Elephant – Flow with uncertainties and have faith in your strengths. Sometimes life feels out of control and confusing, but that’s okay as long as you remember that you are strong enough to get through these times, and come out the other side stronger for it.

AirThree of Swords, Ten of Pentacles, Beaver, Spotted Skunk – It is important to display strength and serene resilience during troubled times and adversity. Stick to your guns in caring for and fostering stability in home and family life. In the position of air, these cards indicate there will be a need to provide reassurance to those nearest and dearest to me during the week to come.

WaterQueen of Swords, Seven of Wands, Mugwort, Orca – Now is the time to dive into the murky liminal spaces of the emotions and define clear boundaries within that space concerning what is welcome… and what is not. In these spaces, be aware and alert this week. Seek the truth and discard the rest.

FireThe Star, Queen of Cups, Trillium, California Poppy – The connection between my emotions and my passions, which was mentioned in a previous reading a week or two ago (I think?). In the previous reading, it was encouraged that I allow my emotions to more closely work with and influence my ambitions and inspirations. The cards in today’s reading speak of allowing this process time to germinate and grow, rather than bringing it out into the open too soon and therefore causing it to wither and fade.

Waxing and Waning – I am moving further away from that “dig yourself out of the emotional confusion” part of things and from the surfacing that comes afterward. Balance is coming back into focus, allowing me to depart from that state of picking myself up and dusting myself off. Now is a time to move forward and on from the recovery period into action once more.

Moral of the Story – This reading’s message is one of empowerment and forward motion. The time for stagnancy has come to an end and I need to foster clarity and precision in my steps forward into the chaos of the upcoming season.

EarthAce of Pentacles and Air – I feel like this is a carry over from yesterday’s meditation and cards. It speaks of using my head and finding perspectives in order to avoid stumbling and advance financially during the week ahead.

AirSix of Wands and Vision – The Aesculus glabra (pictured on the card) is considered a “seed of good fortune”. Clarity of thought is going going to be on my side this week, be sure to use it towards progress and success in my endeavors.

WaterSix of Cups and Sleep – Rudbeckia hirta (pictured on the card) is considered a symbol of encouragement. I’ve had a lot of struggle over the past week with my family history and memories concerning my father. In the week ahead, it’s time to give rest to those feelings involved with that trip down memory lane, and seek out a better place for my emotions to settle into.

FireTen of Cups and Permanence – Solidago ohioensis (pictured on the card) is considered a symbol of both good luck as well as encouragement and growth. Look at fostering my positivity in the week ahead as now is a time ripe for some of it to stick and hold on through the near future.

WaningTaitin the Slyph and Lys of the Shadows – The time to explore the shadows and act upon what is there is at an end for the time being. It’s time to move quickly past that and focus on getting my mind and heart on a path of clarity that will foster quick thinking.

WaxingIris of the Rainbows – Light breaks through the darkness this week and there is good reason to allow hope to flourish and grow. Let the light dissipate the shadows you’ve been dealing with and ease the burden that they’ve created.

The question is… What do I need to focus for self-care through the week ahead?

SCS

EarthThe World, Necessity, Desire – In order to grow and “level up” (as I put it in a previous blog post) with concerns to my business and finances, I need to take some time to examine, and also possibly re-evaluate and restructure, my priorities.

AirThe High Priestess and Reality – There needs to be an anchor when delving into the liminal, no matter how comfortable and welcoming it feels. Don’t let intuition and inner urges run away with your sense of reason. To dip into that pond safely and comfortably, you have to have a balance of both. This is a good reminder at this time of year, as with the veil so thin I always feel a huge urge to throw caution to the wind and dive in and get lost there in those liminal spaces. This message is about moderation.

WaterSeven of Pentacles and Respect – Long term friendships and relationships are built upon respect. Make sure this week that you pay attention to what others contribute to your life, especially on an emotional level, and what you contribute to theirs. If there are imbalances, approach them respectfully in order to allow things to flourish moving forward.

FireJudgement and Opulence – The message here echoes back to the Earth part of this reading and reinforces the message there. It’s time to evaluate spending habits and finances. (ie: Do I really need those fire opal beads right now? Or can they wait until the New Year?)

WaningThe 9th Mirror – Harm caused by others and the lasting marks that it leaves behind on the self and the psyche. Recognizing, understanding, and accepting that harm are vital to healing, but in the next week it’ll be a time to step away from that “less than” whisper that was recently unearthed and focus on other things.

WaxingThe 5th Mask – Lack of authenticity and difficulty in communication. Mercury goes into retrograde in a few days, and that is the theme for Mercury retrograde. That said? I’m not usually affected by Mercury retrograde, so the fact that this card is coming up to warning about these issues is interesting considering the timing. I’ll have to be careful with how I communicate over the next week and take special care to pay attention to how others communicate with me.
