Self Care Saturday (On a Sunday)

These Saturday readings are (not usually) bearing in on any one thing or event in my life, as the question used is asking for a more general outlook. This is a self care exercise, and is not meant as a predictive reading… although that, too, happens on occasion.

The question is… What do I need to focus for self-care through the week ahead?

Playful Heart Tarot, Whispering Herbs Healing Cards, and The Zen of Animals Cards

EarthTen of Swords, Flaxseed (Metal) atop Valerian (Yin/Yang) – Watch out for that “shit happens” shoe that’s preparing to hit you in the face.  It’s going to suck, but if you make sure to keep yourself grounded and follow your gut, you’ll get through to the other side just fine and all the better for it.  Check the filters and drain pans for your air conditioners.

AirFive of Pentacles and Strawberry (Earth) – You have worked really hard to get to a place where your inner voice isn’t constantly poking and prodding you with your scarcity issues. Don’t backslide and remember, even if you don’t finish all of your blog post each day?  The most important part of the blog post is the COTD and the Self Kindness. It’s okay to just do these two things and skip the rest when you’re feeling overwhelmed.

WaterThree of Cups, Wood Betony (Wood) – Reach out to others this week for emotional support.  The heat leaves everyone feeling like they’re on a short fuse and it’s hard to forget that even during these times?  They’re still there for you if you need them to be.  A little love can go a long way sometimes.   Make sure you’re expressing to others that you’re there for them as well.

FireThe Hermit atop Page of Swords Rx, Slippery Elm (Earth) – Remember that it’s okay to have little to no progress some weeks, especially now during the summer months when you’re supposed to be allowing yourself some rest and relaxation anyway.  Especially for you?  Those times of rest are their own learning experience.  Don’t forsake them (and yourself) by pushing them away and forcing yourself to stress and worry instead.

WaningCrane – Cool and untouchable may be something that you project quite often, but you need to work on allowing a more approachable warmth into your life.  Don’t just settle for that colder and less welcoming presence this week.  Be more. Holding yourself apart isn’t always healthy, even when it might feel like it is.

WaxingGoat – Don’t forget that you are a survivor.  Follow your gut and what you know is right, and you will continue to be sure footed and it will be nearly impossible to knock you off your path.  Don’t forget that you have value beyond the money you make and the things you do. That value resides inside of you and is a part of who you are, not what you do.

Take Away – Check on the health of those things that are helping keep your home happy and healthy this week.  Check on the ACs and the fans, make sure the girls are caring for themselves and hydrating.  You can avert catastrophe, but you have to be diligent to do it. And if it can’t be avoided, remember to breathe and keep moving forward, for all struggle leads to growth and transformation.

Cut yourself some slack on all the stuff you want to do.  It’s okay to cut down to the bare minimum now and then, and this is the time of year to do that if that’s what you need.

Work on being open and approachable, and recognizing your own value.  These things are a part of moving into that new mindset and emotional growth you’re seeking.  Don’t disregard them as unimportant or without value.

EarthThe Magician and Water · Flow – Take this week to get yourself back on track with your health and well-being.  There is absolutely nothing that has to be done this week.  Nothing at all. Use what’s at your disposal to set yourself back on a healthy path.  Get out in nature, take people with you along with the tools needed for your safety.  Do your meditation and allow it to sink you into a better, less jagged place.

AirThe Star and Rest – Let go of that negative headspace and put yourself in a mental space of rest and rejoicing.  You have the ability to be filled with hope and give yourself the joy and enjoyment that will allow you to truly rest and recover this week, but you’re going to have to actually spend some time in nature instead of just thinking about it.

WaterJustice, Radiate, Nurture – Again we see an encouragement to get out into nature and allow it to not just heal but nurture you.   Taking the steps needed to care for yourself this week will allow you to not just recover from the stress and abuse of working so much, but will allow you to find new energy and a better balance you’ve been seeking.  Treat yourself good, and you will feel good. Treat yourself badly, and you will reap the consequences of that.

FireSeven of Pentacles, Wisdom, Earth · Roots –  Annnnnnnd again we see an encouragement to get out into nature. Here, the guidance is to pour my enthusiasm into the long standing connection I have with the earth and the forest.  Take some time to visit the long standing older forest land you love so much, and do some deep rooting meditation while out there.  It can’t be always about the business and work… so give yourself some of what you really need right now.

WaningMonkey – Flighty thoughts and juggling too much. Overthinking and too much multitasking.  It’s time to let go of the clouded scatter.  This is under your control to change.

WaxingCrane – Make time to interject more spirituality and peace into your life.  Graceful elegance and the quiet calm that comes with it is important this week, as ins fostering your connection to the spiritual world and liminal spaces.

Take Away – This week’s reading is all about getting my ass out into nature and doing some wallowing and meditation.  it’s about setting to right my spiritual practices and self care. Heavy emphasis is put on my connection with nature, my gratitude practices, and meditation.  Sometimes rest isn’t about lying down and taking a nap.  Sometimes you can get more out of a trip into the trees than any number of naps.

EarthJackalope, Lion, Dandelion – Calm composure and leadership is needed this week to keep things moving smoothly.  Although you may feel as if accomplishing what you wish this week may feel impossible at times, if you lean into your steady and rooted foundation and the community around you, you will manage to get done what is needed of you.

AirTree of Life, Otter, Holly – You need to work this week on balancing your forthright nature and integrity with a good dose of optimism. It’s okay to crave fairness and to speak your mind, but do it with gentle calm and a bit of tact and you’ll get further than just jumping off at the mouth without forethought or measured tone.

WaterLangur, Dragonfly, Sage – You’ve got to let go and you’ve got to let it happen. You can’t continue on with the growth you want to move into unless you release the old habits and unhealthy ways of doing things.  Do some work this week to clean out the old.  Cleansing and a focus on letting go will help get things moving before they begin to stagnate any further.

FireLeafy Sea Dragon, Beaver, Foxglove – Slow and steady wins the race this week.  Break things down and take them one step at a time, and make sure you don’t let the slow pace tap you out of your  motivation to get things done.  Just because it can’t be done fast doesn’t mean it’s not worth working on. Don’t get disappointed or discouraged just because things are going slow right now.  This lag is anticipated and something that happens every year.  Steer the boat where you want to go and let things run their course.

WaningScales – Don’t worry so much about balance this week. As mentioned above, you need to focus on shifting gears and letting go.  That can create a sense of imbalance that you will work through just by simply going with the flow and letting things adjust.  You don’t have to force those scales to balance.  It’s okay to let them do it on their own in their own time.

WaxingFunny Pants – Fun, positivity, lots of laughter, and an abundance of smiles are needed this week. Really lean into the optimism.  You spend too much time on the darker side of the fence.  Step out into the sun and shine for a bit. Listen to some uplifting songs and align your focus to bringing some more joy into your life.

Take Away –  Things might feel a bit unbalanced this week.  Instead of working on forcing things back into balance, use this time to lean into optimism and joy, as well as easing up on that tight grip of control you have going on.  Don’t panic when things feel off… just go with the flow, stay calm, and take things a little at a time.   Oh… and don’t pop off at the mouth.  Take a little extra time to compose your words when communicating with others this week.

EarthAce of Honey and Marshmallow – It’s time for a refresh. Let go of what isn’t working and start anew. This week, make sure that you’re taking time to look at what in your, health , home, and finances that’s not working and get started on a new plan.

AirThe Hermit atop The High Priestess, Stinging Nettle – Your intuition is being restricted by the fact that you’re not getting enough healthy alone time. It’s time to figure out how to make this happen. You need the self care and that alone time in order to feel balanced and not be a prickly asshole. Stop using your needs as a way to punish yourself. Instead be generous and gentle and give yourself what you need.

WaterJudgement and Chamomile – Be honest with yourself about your expectations when it comes to your emotional growth, and expect that it’s going to take time and you’re going to have to be nicer about it. Lower those expectations to something more reasonable that can be accomplished at a more sedate pace.

FireNine of Dreams and Goldenrod – Continue to stand strong and positive in the face of fears and anxieties that may be trying to eat you alive. This week may hold some worries when it comes to your business or your creative spark, but remember that sometimes fear and anxiety is about perspective and not reality.

WaningMosquito – Last week you were made aware of something that was tapping into your energy and creating a negative counter balance in your life. You’ve dealt with this issue and it’s time to move on. You can still stay aware and alert without having to focus all your energy in this area now.

EarthThe World and Counsel – There is a lot of possibilities before you right now as you hover on the cusp of transition, but you need to spend some time consulting with experts in order to plot your course from here wisely.

AirThe Tower and Hope – It’s time to put some real focus into tearing down that negative inner voice of yours and replace it with something more hopeful and positive.  You’ve had a bit of a setback in this area lately, and it’s time to root out what’s festering and get it cleared up.

WaterNine of Pentacles and Abstract – Keep in mind this week that feeling secure and accomplished in your emotional growth is going to require thinking “outside the box” (or garden gate in this case) and changing your perspective. EarthTemperance and Letting Go – You need to make sure that you’re letting go of your responsibilities this week and just being in the now. Get in contact with your spirituality and use this time to find your center. Don’t allow stress concerning your responsibilities set you off-balance.

AirTen of Wands, Inspired, Balance – There’s going to be lots of brilliant ideas this week, and lots of ideas on what you should be doing with this time, but you need to remember that this week is meant to be a time of rest in order to restore balance. Write down your ideas and set them aside so that they don’t overwhelm you.

WaterThe World and Awakening – Focus your emotional energy upon what makes you feel complete. This means spending time with Gideon, but it also means making sure that you’re doing the things that nurture your soul in other ways as well.
