Gideon’s Challenge

The Oval

So beautiful
blue like the sky
the little put put
goes driving by
with tiny taillights
and big round eyes
and sweet oval window
and a whole lot of shine
After years and years
I still can’t deny
I’m a bug lover
at heart
It’s just
so damned fly.

The Recovery

I can see the light
at the end of the tunnel
fuzzy
and indistinct
as energy returns
in fragmented pieces
a little
at a time
to be frittered away
too quickly
and sleep is needed
once more
to recharge
and try again

Green Dreams

I want to be
where the
wild things are
and trees stand tall
against the sky
and there are
no streets
only rivers that flow
and the wind whispers
through leaves
with a sigh
with forest floor
spongy with moss
under bare feet
and bare back
while the sweet scent
of cedar
fills the senses
while I take
a short little nap

Transitions

October
kisses the skin
with cool breath
and sweet drops
of cold rain
interspersed
with beautiful
skyscapes
of clouds
interspersed
with peeking
hints
of blue
from summer’s end

Meditating SkeletonEclecticism

Halloween decor
has become
a thing
in my home
where they find
a spot to sit
and never again
do they roam
from meditative
skeleton
to a raven
on a perch
they linger past
october
to stay
throughout the year

Miss LunaMiss Luna

Attentive and sweet
she’s waiting for me
with ears perked
and listening
for the key to slide
into the lock
and turn
to announce
my arrival
and send her running
to say hello
and rush eagerly
to greet me
at the end of the rug
by my front door
