Gideon’s Challenge – Rampant Furrows

The FurrowsRampant Furrows

aeration done
and new topsoil
days of work
and lots of toil
brand new seed
scattered ’round
a full refresh
for healthy ground
one thoughtless man
on wet grass
ruins it all
just that fast
damage control
desperately needed
and then the lawn
again needs reseeded

Gideon’s Challenge – The Lost

CyclamenThe Lost

White clouds
whisper
of things forgotten
somehow
memories
are tossed
to the wind
like
flower petals
falling
to land
in mud puddles
discarded
surely
by mistake

Sinclair InletThe Lost

I long for vibrancy
inhaled
through breath
to fill the lungs
and soak
through the soul
like oxygen
dispersed
through the blood
but clouds of gray
cover the sky
and the
water’s surface
can’t shimmer
and neither can
my unshed tears

VW DoorThe Stories We Share

Echoes of history
from a long ago past
trickle down
through
shared memories
and keep
what would otherwise
be lost
alive and well
in the minds
of those that
cherish
how we got to
here and now

Gideon’s Challenge

Forest DetritusHeart and Home

Like evergreens and fallen leaves
Like moss and tangled briars
Like lichen’s cling to Craig’s bark
And pine cones in the fire
Like the stinging scent of cedar
And pine needles underfoot
Nurse logs wet and rotting
Giving life to brand new roots
Like morels in the shadows
Like snowberries on the bush
Like decay in the detritus
And tree roots among mud’s squish
You are my beloved home
And I need you just as much

Flying SeedpodsThe Angel’s Words

My wings don’t spread
wide enough to fly
without you
here
to make them lighter
to carry.
You provide the lift
I need
the air I breathe
and each moment
without you
is a bit heavier
than the one before it.

Yours.
