Spring Colors
Shadows casting
dreamy images
over swathes of green
inviting the eye
to look upward
as the sky shifts
from shades of blue
to swirling white
in a Beltane dance
while trees stretch
for each kiss
of sunlight
that breaks through
to paint the world
in color
Sky Gazing
Paradactyl
dragon head
or little poppet
put to bed
dancing horses
in the sky
and unicorns
prance with pride
imagination
going wild
so much to see
so little time
The Shy One
“I see you”
I say
as she hides
among the leaves
and I ease down
into the grass
to lie beside
her hiding spot
and chat away
a warm afternoon
in the shade
of evergreen trees

A circular room
full of light
with paint splatter
on the floor
and in mind’s eye
you can see
the ghost
of a long gone
easel
sitting in the center
as the whisper
of hours
cast shadows
like a sundial
on aged wood
The Last Dusting
Late spring
and a last dusting
of snow
on elevated peaks
like powdered sugar
sifted fine and white
over sweet beignets
lets go for a drive
and find a bit
of winter’s bite
still alive
in the warmth
of spring’s
soft breezes
Rainy Work Days
Rainy days
bring muddy fields
and wet grasses
to soak through
denim hems
and chill the skin
beneath
and yet
hair dripping
and water trailing
down nape’s flesh
I look up
and smile
as the world is
washed clean
