by summer’s kiss
turns yellow
to tangerine
to rich shades
of orange
like love swells
a flush of warmth
upon the skin
turning flesh from
chilled tones
to warm
and pinkened

or intense
perfection is found

Sassy li’l fuzzy butt
with lots of ‘tude
he sits in muck
with tufts of moss
upon his tail
he watches over
flowers fair
He brings a smile
and lifts the heart
with every stare
from the little upstart
