Heat breaks
and clouds roll in
with drizzles
of rain
that kiss the skin
a world
washed clean
by showers
from above
and once more
the air smells crisp
with moisture
and the scents
that I love
Brash colors
dance
in raucous celebration
filling the senses
with too much
at once
as they bid goodbye
to the bees and bugs
and welcome
autumn
with open arms
and spread petals
A desire to drift
quiet and still
as sweet silence
brushes senses
with not so much
as a whisper
and gentle currents
caress as they carry
lazy form
along
beneath blue sky
and sunshine
dappled by the shade
of cotton candy
clouds
Eighteen petals
unfurl
from tight bud
to kiss the sky
exposing
vibrant color
to lure in
visitors
and as flowers sway
in summer breeze
they spread
joy
and celebration
to all
that pass by
I want to swim
to numb the toes
and dive right in
where frigid cold
slides over skin
in frigid embrace
that nips and bites
while I float
under blue skies
and currents turn
me in its grasp
as crisp fresh air
fills lungs
with every gasp
A seagull’s view
from rooftop’s ledge
watching sun
sink
behind clouds
and set
the sky ablaze
in rich tones
while ships
are called home
and birds settle
to roost
for the night
