Delving in
to green and dark
but unable
to dance
with other’s spark
sharp pain
a poisoned spear
digging deep
beneath the skin
shadows whisper
a promise given
lie down
and
we’ll come to you
Open faces
greet the rain
eager for each
cold drip
that patters down
from on high
and sunny petals
bob in the breeze
to greet brightly
and remind us all
that there’s still
time left
before winter’s bite
arrives
Seasons shift
with a vibrant sigh
as yellow and orange
bleed bright
into verdant green
as droplets fall
to bathe the world
in the cleansing
wash of rain
and in a breath
autumn
greets the senses
in a celebration
of scents
Wet grass
and soaked shoes
sloppy puddles
and muddy fields
the rain is back
once again
so very missed
by earth and man
that the world seems
to sigh in relief
as I lie in the chill
on the sopping ground
and smile gratitude
to the weeping sky
Temperatures cool
and blossoms fade
as only the hardy
remain
splashes of color
shift
from the burst
of floral color
to the autumn flames
of turning leaves
but here and there
you can still find
a bit of vibrant hues
like an echo
of the summer
gone
Green fronds
brush
against bare skin
as we pass
on a climb
ever higher
and breathe in
deep
of air fragrant
with the spice
of cedar
blended
with the musk
of dark earth
and tang of fern fronds
