Tangled sheets
and dented pillows
as sunlight
shines
through
shrouded windows
cracks in the walls
and dented chairs
don’t look
too close
for carpet hairs
but if you are there
it’s paradise
another night
in paradise

Take a moment
to slide down
to ass on damp log
and let air
flow in
and out
as you catch
your breath
and stare up
through draping
bits of green
to watch
the golden glow
of day’s end
begin to fade

very near

they say hello
and ease the aching
of darkness’ reach
and chronic pain
when sunny flowers
say hello again
