A Tarot Deck for the Spiritually Clumsy - Three of Cups

Today’s draw is the Three of Cups, which is traditionally a representation of friendships, revelry, celebration, and collaboration between those that are linked or alike not just in mind but also in heart.

Consider… what do they see and feel when you turn down their invitations again and again? Extroverts especially might struggle to interpret the meaning of this. They might think you’re not interested in their friendships or efforts. In fact, you know this for truth. As an introvert, you often can’t keep up with the needs of extroverts. That’s fine, but what that means is that they end up thinking you aren’t interested in their friendship. That’s why they disappear from your life after a while.

By the same turn? By the time you notice they’re gone? They’re -long- gone. Not because you don’t care. It still hurts. Instead, it’s just that your need for interaction is far less than theirs. This makes you incompatible, not less caring nor “left behind”.

Friendships are difficult. Difficult to develop, and difficult to keep. This is true when compatibility is high, and much more true when trying to hold on to friendships with those that you are not compatible with.

The message in today’s Three of Cups and “Perspective” prompt is a reminder that sometimes we assume things don’t work out because of something -we- have done. Maybe instead of playing the blame game, though, we need to look at it more as trial and error. A question of compatibility rather than a question of blame.

Tarot Reading with The Taroracle of Oz

What makes me feel most like me?

Queen of Pentacles – When you are feeling in control of your future and inspired from a place of stability. Instability makes you retreat and causes you a good deal of distress and inner struggle. A sense of stability, on the other hand, allows you to open up and become approachable.

What do I love about the way I think or feel?

Knight of Pentacles – You love that you choose to prioritize integrity, even above success or speed. You love that these priorities are long learned, and you’ve discovered over time what works best for you… applying that knowledge into weighing what matters and what doesn’t.

What do I believe I was put here to do?

Four of Cups – You believe that you were put here to offer help and support… but only to those who are open to it. You accept that it’s not your responsibility to help those that are not interested in being helped, and turn your focus to those who are.

When do I feel the most confident or powerful?

Nine of Wands Rx – When things are feeling safe and secure. It’s hard to feel at your most confident and powerful when you’re in the process of bracing for impact or fearing the worst is yet to come.

What’s something about me most people don’t know but should?

Ace of Pentacles – You’re not as stuck in your ways as you appear, you just need sufficiently inspirational motivators to spark your interest in change.

: What am I ready to pursue with passion?

Tarot Reading with A Tarot Deck for the Spiritually Clumsy

Reading Summary: An empowering (Strength) answer (Ace of Wands) to your current uncertainties (The Moon).

Take Away: You’ve lain the groundwork here already, and are ready to pursue the answers you need to turn things around. There’s a lot of uncertainty and worry involved, but you need to acknowledge that this uncertainty is not based on reality, but rather upon your fear of being powerless.

Instead of giving into those fears, step forward with strength and seek out the answers you need. You were able to step out of the shadows and begin the journey, and that was half the battle right there. Now it’s time to keep going.

Spiral Tarot - Knight of Wands

Today’s draw is the Knight of Wands, which is traditionally a representation of a projective beta energy, personality, or person in the area of one’s drive, passions, willpower, principles, inspiration, or enthusiasm. This often translates into themes that have to do with rash behavior and a go-get’em attitude toward the things that matter to that person.

Sometimes doing what you want and are inspired by takes little more oomph, and a thick skin to protect yourself and your passions from naysayers.

Passion pursuits aren’t always easy. There’s lots of things in life that you may be good at, and yet don’t enjoy it all. For example, I am really good at cooking. I can’t even remember the last thing I made that didn’t turn out, regardless of if I’m following a recipe or not. Cooking is, in fact, an integral part of my spiritual practice.

That doesn’t mean I enjoy cooking, though. Just because I’m good at it doesn’t mean I enjoy it.

By the same turn, some of the things that you really enjoy might be things that you completely suck at. That doesn’t mean you stop. It may mean that you can’t get paid at it, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy it regardless of whether or not you’re good at it. (For example, I absolutely suck at pool/billiards… but I always have a good time when I play.)

The message in today’s Knight of Wands card and “Lucidity” prompt is a reminder that enjoyment is not necessarily based upon talent and skill. When we look at things through the eyes of enjoyment, we see with a clarity what we can’t see any other way. That is, we see a value in things that might otherwise miss seeing. That value being how much we enjoy something, rather than how much we can get out of it or what we can do with it.

Tarot Reading with The Sorcerers Tarot and Gemstones & Dragons Oracle

What area of your life is requiring too much sacrifice?

Five of Pentacles, Peridot, King of Cups – You have a tendency to pretend that you’re okay when you’re not, just to keep others calm and comfortable. That fear that others will see your weaknesses and reject you for them is taking too much out of you.

This choice of compliance to be accepted and liked is costing too much. Remember that not wanting to deal with something it’s not the same as not needing to.

What would be a better option or path?

Ace of Pentacles atop Nine of Swords Rx, Smoky Quartz, Nine of Cups – Rock the boat on your fears by bringing them out into the open. This creates the opportunity for something better to emerge.

Nothing that you do that goes against your own needs is going to provide you the healing and care that you are in need of. It only perpetuates more pain. Instead, allow yourself the care you need and stop the people pleasing tactics.

: Where is abundance already flowing?

Tarot Reading with the Spiral Tarot - Eight of Wands, Two of Swords, Eight of Swords

Reading Summary: You are ripping off blindfolds that have kept you trapped and motionless to identify issues (Eight of Swords figure reaching out for help from the Two of Swords figure) and have already begun making the decisions needed (Two of Swords figure moving on a tight rope toward Eight of Swords figure) and actions necessary begin fixing them (Eight of Wands).

Take Away: Starting around February 1st, something went awry with your product advertising. At first you thought it must be as a glitch, but the issue has continued into March now.

You’ve since created a spreadsheet to track what’s going on and begin making adjustments to hopefully course correct the problem.

At the moment, you have an abundance of information (and more yet to come) which will require clarity of mind to understand and then act on.

Other elements included in this reading:
Foraged Lodgepole Pine for Resilience, Growth, and Renewal
Foraged Parmeliaceae Lichen for a “Breath of Fresh Air”

Shadowscapes Tarot - Ten of Pentacles

Today’s draw is the Ten of Pentacles, which is traditionally a representation of satisfaction and stability in the area of one’s finances, resources, home, health, manifestations, and the physical world. This often translates into themes that have to do with hard earned success, accomplishments, abundance created through patience and hard work.

Perfection is temporary. Okay, so perhaps perfection in itself is a myth, but we can all agree that times when everything is going our way and we can relish in our successes are few and fleeting.

If we consider treating these moments as liminal, maybe we could savor them just a little more deeply.

That is to say, even our mistakes and failures have the potential to be transitional doorways that lead to something better… if we open our minds to letting that be the case.

After all, with each mistake and failure we experience, we learn and grow… or at least that is the idea. That means that nothing, not even failure, is a waste as long as we learn from it in some way and carry those lessons forward with us.

The message in today’s Ten of Pentacles and “Liminal” prompt is a reminder that just because something doesn’t go how it’s planned doesn’t mean that it doesn’t hold value. Our mistakes and our failures have great potential to be doorways… thresholds through which we can gain value, as long as we’re open to doing so.

The Belly of the Unconscious Spread

Tarot Reading with The Unofficial Shel Silverstein Tarot

A part of myself that’s been kept hidden

Ten of Wands – Just exactly how much shit you’re trying to deal with at once. You keep overfilling your plate and trying to pile more on as if you’ve got plenty of time and room for more. The fact is, though, that you don’t… and you’re not handling what you already have half as well as you appear to be to others.

Why has this part needed to hide?

Two of Swords – Part of the reason this issue comes about in the first place is because you often struggle to pick one option over another. Instead of buckling down and making a choice, you then try to take on both.

How does this hidden material influence me indirectly?

Two of Wands Rx – Being unable to be more selective in what you take on holds you back from the planning stage of those things that are a part of your responsibility. There’s just not enough time, and so it forces you to have to do things on the fly and hope for the best instead of having a well-made plan in place.

What does safe exploration of this part look like?

Ace of Wands Rx – A release of enthusiasm. You can’t “burn the candle at both ends” forever. The fact you can see the potential in so many different things, and become enthusiastic about that potential, means that you’re always going to struggle to choose. You need to acknowledge, though, that sometimes choosing is unavoidable or you’ll end up snuffing out the potential of both… or alternately burning out quickly in a flash fire.

: What unexpected pleasure is ready to enter my life?

Tarot Reading with the Shadowscapes Tarot

Reading Summary: Acting now (Eight of Wands) to take a better care of yourself and follow what truly matters to you (The Lovers) will help keep your emotional novicity (Page of Cups) from stealing the show (Seven of Swords).

Take Away: Yes, I made up a word (novicity). The condition of being a novice in something.

You are still new and lacking in skill when it comes to your emotions. This doesn’t have to be your focus, though. The problem lies in the fact that you focus so hard on your struggle in this that you aren’t allow room for enjoyment of life as a whole. Instead you’re too busy focusing on your failings and struggles.

You can experience far more pleasure in life if you allow yourself to love and care for yourself well rather than punishing yourself for your failings. Beating yourself up makes life worse, and does nothing to strengthen you or help you learn to do better.
