Calling In Sick

Today’s draw is the King of Cups, which is traditionally a representation of a projective alpha energy, personality, or person in the area of one’s emotions, relationships, emotional intelligence, creativity, or intuition. This often translates into authority figures that are emotionally supportive and understanding, possessing both compassion and strong leadership qualities.

The King of Cups has then been combined with the (very apropos) affirmation by @thelatestkate, that says “It’s okay to accept that you’re unwell today.”

Why is today’s affirmation so appropriate for today? That would be because I feel like crap today. I’m not sure if it’s something I’m coming down with, allergies, dehydration, or some weird combination of two or more of these elements… but I feel like shit. Oh yeah. Lets not forget the current struggles with mood imbalance, as I’m sure that’s playing into it as well.

Just before pulling this card today, I was mentally beating myself for feeling like crap, and acting like I feel like crap. And here it is, the affirmation that says when you feel like crap it’s okay to accept that it is what it is.

Then, the King of Cup steps in and says that there may also be an emotional aspect to how I’m feeling as well, and adds encouragement to seeking out my emotional anchor to help me through. (That would be Gideon, by the way, and good luck with that as he’s on the road today.)

Ohhh look, negative narratives.

Today’s message is to go easy on yourself when you’re feeling rough around the edges. If you feel crappy? Stop beating yourself up about the things you’re not getting done and be kind to yourself instead. Seek out those people and things that can help make it just a little better instead of wallowing in misery alone.

I think I need a nap.

:  What lesson from the past month can I take away from the time I spent with myself?

Magicmakers Tarot Reading - Page of Pentacles, The Star, Six of CupsReading Summary: Positivity and optimism (The Star) need to be a priority you continue to work toward (Knight of Pentacles) as you stay firmly grounded in the present (Six of Cups Rx).

Take Away: There is value in the act of being in the present instead of trying to look forward and prepare, or look backward and examine.  Both of those acts create stress and anxiety, and are “busy work” that doesn’t need to be in focus every moment of every day.

Instead, what needs to stay in focus is your efforts towards balancing your negative inner narratives and pessimism with a lean into positivity and optimism. A part of doing that is being present in the moment, and paying attention to those things that bring you joy while they’re happening.

❤️ Self Care Saturday (On a Sunday)

These Saturday readings are (not usually) bearing in on any one thing or event in my life, as the question used is asking for a more general outlook. This is a self care exercise, and is not meant as a predictive reading… although that, too, happens on occasion.

The question is… What do I need to focus for self-care through the week ahead?

EarthFive of Cups Rx – Don’t despair. You need to find a way out of the doom and gloom that you’ve been feeling. Although you’ve been fighting against it valiantly, it’s not quite hard enough. You’re not doing all of the stuff that you could be doing to “turn that frown upside down” and look at things in a more positive light. This is causing you to sink deeper into the dark that you really don’t want to spend time in. Your stability and sense of security is at risk if you don’t get a handle on this.

AirThree of Cups atop Six of Blades Rx – Lean into others and communicate what’s going on with you so that they can help you and lift your spirits. Stop retreating into yourself and hiding away, and connect with them instead. Communication is key, so reach out to those that you know are invested. You won’t drag them down. Instead, they’ll help lift you up.

WaterThe World – instead of emotionally honing in on the negative, work on looking at the big picture. You need to do acknowledgement activities that empower you right now, and like the presence of others in your life can give you an emotional boost, looking at your accomplishments with admiration can do the same.  Just take a moment to look how far you’ve come and how much you’ve done.

FireFour of Swords Rx – Rest and recovery is only good for you if you are using it in healthy ways. If you are allowing it to be harmful or it’s hurting you in some unhealthy way, then it’s no longer an activity you should be indulging in. Don’t just accept blindly that something is good for you, but look a little closer and make sure.

WaningMan and Heart – Remember that it’s okay to be small when you need to, and he’ll adore it just as much as when you’re in your top space.

WaxingSun and Mice – Start looking more closely at the activities in your day. There is something corrosive going on, stealing at your happiness.  It’s time to start trying to suss out what these small poisonous bits are that are poisoning the well.

Take Away – Let go of the “I should” of top space and bottom space. It doesn’t matter.

Spending time with others can help in improving your mood and giving you a little boost, as can giving yourself a pat on the back for those things you’ve accomplished thus far in your life.

Make sure you look a little closer at the things you do and how you are feeling, checking in will help you find what’s not helping, as well as what is.
