🌑 New Moon in Gemini – June 2023

Tomorrow is the new moon, and like all new moons and full moons, I did a spread aligned to the moon’s current themes as a part of my recognition of the moon’s cycle and influences upon us. Today’s New Moon in Gemini spread is brought to you by lightningwildflower.

New Moon in Gemini Tarot Reading with the Sleepwalker's Tarot

What new idea or perspective do I need to explore?

Seven of Coins – Your hard work is paying off, but not in the ways that you have expected it to. Take a look around and pay attention to what you are really reaping from what you’ve sown. It’s all good stuff, just not what you were anticipating.

How can I improve my communication and self-talk?

Ace of Cups – Connect with your emotions instead of disregarding them. This is a new path for you that you’ve been working on, but you’re straying off course a bit of late. It’s time to re-center yourself (the bird), and make sure that you are not setting emotions aside, but actually dealing with them and communicating them with others when needed (two hands).

What decision do I need to focus on during this new moon?

The Hanged Man – Remember that staying open minded is extremely important, and often has to be a conscious act. It’s not always pleasant, and sometimes it’ll hurt (bruises and bleeding in image), but that doesn’t mean being open to other perspectives is not important or necessary. That pain is part of the growth process, so don’t let it close you off.

How can I better integrate different aspects of myself?

Ten of Cups – Work on connecting more strongly with those things that make you happy. Life isn’t always about responsibility and obligation. Sometimes it’s about doing the things that make you feel good and sharing them with others.

New Moon advice from the Minoan Goddess Amalthea.

Ace of Swords – The other cards in this reading indicate that you may be tempted to shut down and close yourself off from others, either due to disappointment or pain. Work at making sure that you stay open and communicate how you’re feeling. Own your emotions and express them to others clearly so that they can be processed and dealt with.

Adding Spark to Life

Spectrowheel Tarot and Thera-Pets Emotional Support Animal CardsToday’s meditation was ten minutes long, and focused upon the affirmation on the Thera-Pets Emotional Support Animal card included in this post.

I struggle wit that voice mentioned in the card.  That inner narrative that is so very often negative and pessimistic is something that I’ve struggled with all my life, and continue to struggle with daily.  It takes a lot of effort to combat that voice, and it helps sometimes to remember that others look up to me… and I’ve earned their respect and admiration.

Today’s draw is the Page of Wands, which is traditionally a representation of a receptive omega energy, personality, or person in the area of one’s enthusiasm, drive, willpower, and determination. This often translates into themes that have to do with budding enthusiasm, exploration of new inspiration, and potential that is fed by the inner fire that feeds our determination and enthusiasm.

Look at all that color, and at the center of it?  What looks like a figure standing in the center of the blaze.  A spark that burns bright, and creates within life a vibrancy as we follow our curiosity, creativity, and passions.

Today’s card is a reminder that it is through our passions and creativity that we add color, vibrancy, and spice to our lives.  It encourages us to foster our curiosity and encourage it to grow and thrive.

Don’t Wallow In Stagnancy

Tarocchi Marsigliesi Fratelli Recchi and Thera-Pets Emotional Support Animal CardsToday’s meditation was ten minutes long, and focused on the affirmation in the included card in this post from the Thera-Pets Emotional Support Animal cards.  The card is a reminder that we can’t succeed at everything, but that’s not a bad thing.  That it’s okay to fail now and then.  We learn from the failures, and it’s through those lessons we gain knowledge and experience.

Today’s draw is the Death card, which is traditionally a representation of organic transformations and gradual change.  It can often indicate the ending of things, but just as much offers us the room provided by those endings for something new to arise.

It is only through the purification of that space that we are given the opportunity to create healthy growth and change, and in the Marseille, this is the message that the Death card holds for us.  Just as we reap crops from the fields, and in doing so prepare them for the next crop to come, so too do we need to clear out space for new things to grow in our own lives.   Don’t allow a tendency towards stagnancy to keep you from growing, no matter how comfortable that stagnancy might be.

Philosophical Question for June 14th
: Do people need other people for true happiness?

B Freund's Foraging CardsRose – Metaphysically speaking, roses are all about connecting with others and our emotions. Themes that have to do with love, friendships, emotional intent, etc, are all tied up in the meanings and uses of the rose and its parts. It is also used for its sweet fragrance, in teas, and the petals are an edible that can add appealing aesthetic to salads and as garnishes.

Garlic Mustard – This herb is chock full of vitamins A and C, and has a zing to the taste that makes it great for any dish that needs a bit of horseradish/mustard/wasabi type flavor. It’s antiseptic properties also make it useful in wound care. Metaphysically, it has very similar properties as garlic, and is suited for use in endeavors involving protection, cleansing, and banishing.

Reading Summary: These cards indicate that other people are indeed necessary in order to find true happiness (Rose), but only if they provide positive influence and healthy interaction (Garlic Mustard).

Take Away: If you can’t have healthy interactions? You’re better off alone. That is the answer these cards offer us.  Yes, for true happiness most people require interaction of some sort with other people, but only if that interaction is healthy.  Happiness found alone may not be as rich, but it’s better than seeking it with someone that can’t make you happy and will only drag you down.

Prompt for June 14th : Pull a card. What would this archetype find valuable or interesting about you?

Tarocchi Marsigliesi Fratelli Recchi - Six of CoinsSix of Coins – The archetype of the Six of Coins is about generosity, charity, and social equity.

Perhaps they would be interested in how much I share of myself with others. I share my time, my support, and my knowledge with a wide array of people and communities.

Perhaps they would be interested in my need for fairness and balance, and how hard I struggle to create fairness in my own life and the lives of those around me where I can through my influence.

It’s possible that they would be interested in the ache that I feel sometimes at the center mass when I see people in need, but I’m unable to help for one reason or another.

Or, perhaps they would be interested in the fact that I have worked very hard over the last few years to accept help from others rather than doing everything on my own.

The GIfts of Our Ancestors

Biological Illustration Tarot and Thera-Pets Emotional Support Animal CardsToday’s meditation was supposed to be twelve minutes long, and take place in the backseat of the car I was riding in.  It ended up being about eight minutes long before I dozed off in said back seat and had myself an impromptu little nap.  The topic of the meditation was “you are worth taking care of” which, no surprises here, is a message that I often struggle with.

It’s hard to remember that I’m worth taking care of when my inclinations toward self-destruction are so strong.  It was a good reminder to put in the effort to be kind to myself, though, and consciously choose to provide for my needs instead of ignoring them.

Today’s draw is the Page of Wands, which is traditionally a representation of a receptive omega energy, personality, or person in the area of one’s willpower, drive, passions, and inner spark.

What stands out to me in this card is that the bird is facing to the past instead of the future.  The issue being that sometimes?  We aren’t inspired by the future or what we can do in the present.  Sometimes?  It’s in the past that we find inspiration.  In the art of our ancestors, their words or their skills, their actions and their gifts.

The message in today’s card is that in times when you simply can’t find inspiration in the present or the future?  Look to the past for what you seek.

Questions for June 13th thru 15th – Sense

Biological Illustration Tarot and Spirit Animal OracleHow can I use the wisdom of the natural world to guide me in making important life decisions?

Four of Cups and Sloth – Don’t neglect the time needed to do your meditation. Make it a priority, even when you are tapped out and struggling to keep up. Force the world to move at your speed, instead of putting off or discarding that which is important.

What lessons can I learn from the cycles and seasons of nature to enhance my personal growth?

Page of Swords and Spider – Learn to observe and explore the ebb and flow of your creative energies instead of expecting to pull them up and pour them into anything at any time. Your creative energy is not constant, just as the cycles of nature create times of rest and times of growth.

What signs and synchronicities can I look for in nature that will guide me towards my purpose?

The Hermit and Swan – Make sure that your alone times are of the healthy variety and not spent indulging in your unhealthy tendency to lean into isolation.

Question for June 13th
: Weed Your Garden Day – What is it time to shed from your life for good?

Biological Illustration TarotReading Summary: It’s time to let go (Death) of the stubborn closed-mindedness that prevent you (The Hanged Man) from appreciating your accomplishments and how far you’ve come (Nine of Pentacles).

Take Away: Taking yourself for granted is a habit that leaves you always pushing yourself for far more than is healthy.  Although a difficult and long-term goal in your life, it’s important that you don’t lose focus on taking time to appreciate the journey and your strength as you travel along life’s path.  Give yourself credit where credit is due instead of always pushing that appreciation aside in an effort to accomplish even more.

I took rest whenever I was able today, rather than continuing to push myself when my body told me it needed some down time.

Staying Present During Uncertainty

Wild Child Tarot and Thera-Pets Emotional Support Animal CardsToday’s meditation was ten minutes long and took place in the back of the car. It was based off the affirmation on the attached card in this post.  That affirmation then later on assisted me in not being so hard on myself at not getting everything done that I’d hoped to do today. (I’d wanted to drop off my business tax papers today, but I simply ran out of time.)

Today’s draw is The Moon card, which is traditionally a representation of the unknown, confusion, fear (especially of the unknown), finding your way through dark and uncertain times, the subconscious, anxiety, and jumping at shadows.

When we look at the moon card, we are given a glowing orb in the darkness that casts deep, impenetrable shadows. It’s a card that is about the unknown and uncertainty, and with the ocean of water depicted beneath the moon in this card specifically, we see a reference to our emotional responses to uncertainty and the unknown.

The message in today’s card is to be aware of your emotional reactions in the face of uncertainty. Over-reaction can and will happen if you don’t stay present, mindful, and self-aware.

Beginnings and Enthusiasm

Deck of Origins Tarot and Thera-Pets Emotional Support Animal CardsToday’s meditation was ten minutes long, and was based off the affirmation from the Thera-Pets Emotional Support Animal card that is attached in this post.

I just had a bit of a struggle and crisis concerning the topic of this affirmation, as when chaos reigned the other day and I was left feeling uncertain in myself, that uncertainty ate at my confidence and caused a bit of an inner conflict.  Self doubt rose, and I worried that my worth would be taken for granted.

That is not what happened, and today this affirmation was a balm to the pain of that uncertainty.

Today’s draw is the Fool card, which is traditionally a representation of innocence, enthusiasm, newness and fresh starts, carefree outlooks, and spontaneity.

People often associate the Fool with being “foolish”, but sometimes it’s not about being foolish at all, but about seeing things from a new and fresh perspective and diving in to that perspective wholeheartedly… even when it might be scary.  Even when things might not go exactly as planned.  The beginning is still the beginning and should be faced with joy and enthusiasm, not trepidation.
